The Olive tree *
It thrives in the desert .It needs a harsh wind as well as wind that brings rain to produce olives.
Then Olives from the branches are bitter, non edible. You have to wash it, soak it ( brine) and wait. It is a lengthy process and having 17 of these trees , we tried and it did not end up well at all. This is a lengthy process .
But then to make olive oil you must crush/press the brined olives.
Sometimes in life we can feel as though we are in a dry desert with harsh wind. Then we produce fruit only to find it takes a lot of time, patience, and care. Then we are pressed , even crushed . But an olive must be crushed to get the oil . It may look like the olive is destroyed but no .. it’s being maintained, cared for , preserved.
I love this reminder of the olive tree . That’s why I made this for my wall today .. as a reminder that sometimes we have to be pressed / crushed to get to the good stuff in our lives
