Summer is here in full effect and my heart is so happy. Lots of staying up late, sleeping in, and swimming!!
I love to swim . Unfortunalty my dyed hair does not like it like I do. Yesterday was national essential oil day so I thought I would share some of my recipes that I have been using this summer.
I woke up like this .. really !
Before I go in the pool , I grab my coconut oil and put it thruout my whole head. Then I french braid my hair and JUMP in the pool.
*If I don't have time for coco oil or if I am not home, I just get my hair( I have used the hose before.. you gotta do whatcha do..) wet before I jump in. This way there is less chlorine soaking into my hair because my hair is already wet.
Then when I take a shower , I use this awesome spray bottle. I do this like once a week.. or if I went overboard on the coco oil.
I can not take credit for this gem of a DIY hair spritz.
Apple cider vinegar rinse
Supplement the conditioning benefits of our hot oil treatment with our clarifying apple cider vinegar rinse. If built-up product has left you in a hairy situation, use this recipe to help untangle the mess. After you rinse away the excess weight from dead skin cells, pool chemicals, saltwater, shampoo, and conditioner, you’ll notice more bounce and volume to your hair.
In addition to helping you nail the perfect hair flip, our apple cider vinegar rinse also soothes the scalp and adds luster to your locks.
What you need:
- 16-ounce glass spray bottle
- 1/4-1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 cup water
- 3 drops Clary Sage essential oil
- 3 drops Tea Tree essential oil
- 2 drops German Chamomile essential oil
- 2 drops Lemongrass essential oil
YL tip: For dry hair, use 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar; for normal to oily hair, use 1/2 cup.
How to make it:
1. Mix all ingredients together in the spray bottle.
2. Spray mixture all over hair, focusing on the scalp and roots. Lift hair in sections to make sure you completely saturate your hair—your hair should be thoroughly damp, but not dripping.
3. Massage into scalp with fingertips to stimulate the scalp and increase circulation.
4. Let the mixture sit for 2-3 minutes.
Last week on my IG stories , I posted my tanning oil. Now ,note that I said tan oil and NOT sunscreen. Goodness don't forget the sunscreen. Avocado oil is said to have SPF 8, that's hardly any. But I have found that as I am laying out and my legs are dry .. avocado and coconut oil are very good at adding moisture . I researched which oils are good for leg health and of course Lavender ( its like the swiss army knife of essential oils) . Lemongrass smells amazing , can help varicose veins and has skin cleansing properties. Cypress can help with reducing cellulite. I love it!!

Happy Summer
